| We are a South African family who came to the United States in November 1996. Since then we lived in Richmond, Virginia and later in Denver, Colorado. In the end we settled in Sacramento, California. Both Neels (my hubby...aka Dirk) and I started out as programmers on the computer software
"SAP" (Software Application Program), which brought us to America.
We worked for a couple of companies in our time here. Since we received our
green card, we were allowed to work as permanent employees.
That is the true story on how we
came to be Californians....
In 1999, both Neels and I worked for a startup company called Pandesic (Yep, that's the one, Intel & SAP!). We survived for 2 years, before they closed shop and we moved on. Neels started work for Hewlett Packard, and I joined Propel, another startup company. When Propel closed it's doors, we decided that I should become a Home Executive (Job Description: get up early, pack lunches, take kids to school, clean the mess that was left behind after the family has left the house, walk the dog, go grocery shopping....and the wonderful, long long list goes on and on and on and on....) 2005: I went back to work, and it is fabulous!!!.
2009: Time goes by and the kids are older, I'm wiser
and the dog... is still the dog...! 2010: And the new year has begun... Our two teenage boys, Wiekus and Christo are a year apart, they both have birthday's in October, to be exact, 29 and 25 October. They are best buddies and once in a while arch enemies, and we love them very much. God has blessed our family. Some good news is that in 2005 we became
citizens of the
United States!
